A specialized optics design was necessary to fit a projector inside two teeth.

When bristles pass between the two teeth, they appear as shadows on the round screen, allowing a demonstrator to illustrate how regular brushing passes over gaps in teeth.

Design Highlights

- An LED light source stays cool and does not require access for replacement.

- A database of scanned teeth was carefully modified to have no undercuts for plastic tooling, yet still retain realism.

- Careful optical design resulted in a small prism mirror that reflects the image down while also flipping it on axis.

- All this is achieved with cheap molded plastic to keep costs at a minimum.
