Pads on rolls, dispensed right next to the toilet paper Tom Devlin is the founder and CTO of Egal (which means equal) and was inspired by his wife’s Boston Globe article about menstrual equity. Each tightly packed roll holds 40 individually wrapped pads and takes up one fifth the materials and volume of boxed pads from vending machines. The product is being sold worldwide.
Devlin also designed the dispenser with parts that can be stacked together, allowing for a box of 5 to be efficiently packed.
When customers asked for a tampon solution, Devlin created a tampon basket that is retained between the dispenser and the wall.
And when customers were not ready to drill holes for this new product, Devlin designed a snap-on adapter with mounting tape, allowing attachment without tools or holes.
